Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, Portuguese painter, born in Manhufe, Amarante, November 14, 1887 .

He was a precursor of modern art, pursuing the path traced by the artists avant-garde of his time. Although having had a short life, his work became immortal.
He attended the Architecture course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lisbon in 1905 which interrupted to go to Paris in 1906, settling in Montparnasse, taking first contact with Impressionism and then Cubism and Expressionism with, engaged, thus exclusively to painting.
Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso explored expressionism and his recent work experiments with new forms and techniques such as collages and other forms of artistic expression.

On 25 October 1918, 31 year old dies prematurely in Espinho, victim of “pneumonic” that raged in Portugal.
